Pelabuhan Ratu Beach

Pelabuhan Ratu Beach

Pelabuhan Ratu, a coastal fishing village which has seen tremendous tourism development in recent years. This is the result of its rolling, tree-lined hills and grand beaches. It is a place of picturesque and unique beauty, enhanced by the hatches, steep cliffs and roaring waves breaking on the beach - many visitors decline to swim in the sometimes treacherous waters of Pelabuhan Ratu. Beautiful but deadly and also part of a legend. Locals also relate the legend of Nyi Loro Kidul, the Queen of the South Seas, who has been known to take people from the sea to their deaths.

Whether or not one believes this legend, the deep blue water of Pelabuhan Ratu Bay is impressive and beautiful but its strong currents and treacherous undertow are best treated with caution. There is an abundance of food taken daily from its depths, as this is a major fishing port and there is a profusion of delightful seafood restaurants along the main drag. These emporia tell of the sea's magnificence and of its importance to the lives of people here, whether locals or tourists.

The famous deep blue water of Pelabuhan Ratu Bay provide many opportunities to enjoy a wide range of water sports, for locals and visitors alike. In addition to the ever popular swimming and surfing, there are boating, wind-surfing, deep-sea fishing and water-skiing facilities available for all to enjoy.
